Armada Security Personnel Intervene After Vehicle Collision at Chinese Consulate in San Francisco

Armada Security personnel thwarted a potential threat at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco after a sudden vehicle collision.

In a report by NBC Bay Area, an eyewitness account detailed how private security personnel intervened to prevent a driver from retrieving crossbows from his vehicle.

The incident unfolded when a Honda Sedan unexpectedly crashed into the Visa Office at the Chinese Consulate in San Francisco on a Monday. Initially, eyewitness Nick Halosky assumed it was an accidental collision, possibly caused by an intoxicated driver.

“I contacted my friend via FaceTime, under the impression that a possibly inebriated individual had collided with the consulate,” Halosky recounted. “As evidenced in the video, I was not overly alarmed at first and remained on the staircase.”

However, Halosky’s concern escalated when he observed the driver exiting the vehicle brandishing a knife.

Footage provided to NBC Bay Area by another witness shows individuals fleeing the consulate as two private security guards attempt to disarm the man.

“The individual was persistently trying to retrieve something from the back seat,” Halosky explained. “One of the security guards, who performed commendably, intervened and prevented him from doing so. Only later did I realize he had been attempting to retrieve a collection of crossbows.”

Halosky expressed his belief that the two private security officers from Armada Security deserved recognition for their actions, which likely prevented serious harm to those present. He noted that when he returned to the consulate on Wednesday to collect a travel visa, one of the guards had already resumed his duties.

Armada Security Manager Mike Butenko expressed his gratitude for the guards’ swift and decisive action

A representative from Armada Security confirmed to NBC Bay Area that one of their guards sustained minor hand injuries during the incident on Monday.

Armada Security Manager Mike Butenko expressed his gratitude for the guards’ swift and decisive action. “I’m simply relieved they were present and able to respond promptly, exceeding their duty to ensure the safety of everyone inside,” he said.

Halosky admitted that the entire situation took him aback and expressed curiosity about the driver’s motives for crashing into the consulate.

The individual appeared upset about an incident that happened in China. He identified himself as a Chinese national,” Halosky shared. “He insisted, ‘I’m a Chinese national. I’m not here to harm you.’ However, he carried two knives.”

According to NBC Bay Area, two sources involved in the investigation have verified that the man had knives and at least one crossbow.

As of now, investigators have not disclosed any additional information, including the identity of the knife-wielding driver who was fatally shot by police upon their arrival at the scene.
